About Us

Southwest Regional Development Corporation (SRDC) is a regional development corporation that was incorporated under Manitoba law on March 26, 2003.  SRDC is owned and operated by member municipal governments in the Southwest Region of Manitoba. Currently, 63 of the region’s 66 municipal corporations are members of SRDC.

SRDC works to the long-term economic growth of the region by:

  • Acting as a regional advocate in order to advance the economic development of its members and the region.
  • Providing grants to support the facilitation and coordination of regional projects and initiatives.
  • Acting as a regional coordinating body to encourage municipalities to work together on similar projects and initiatives.
  • Coordinating the development of a community economic development strategy plan for the region.

Under a new two-year funding agreement with Manitoba Agriculture Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI), SRDC will receive $75.300.00 annually from the Province. Those funds will then be funneled into the region in the form of grants allocated to regional projects and initiatives. As of July 1, 2010, SRDC has paid out a total of $302,509.27 with a current program liability of $53,052.69.

All SRDC activities are overseen by its Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of three volunteer directors from each of the four zones found within the region. The Board usually meets once each month to review pending funding applications and to conduct other SRDC business.

Currently, the SRDC board meets on the first Wednesday of every month. Meeting dates to change from time time in order to best suit the schedules of all board members.

Pamela McTavish and Joy Dornian, Business Development Specialists – Community Development for MAFRI, also serve on the SRDC Board of Directors as ex-officio members.

Wanda Strachan is employed by SRDC to complete the duties of Administrative Assistant.
